Nothing Arrives Just for You

and that is the point

Siena Restaurant & Bar serves tapas-style, which means plates land in the middle of the table and everyone reaches in. No main course, no one person guarding their own dinner.

The menu runs Italian and Mediterranean at the same time, so a single table can have house-made pasta, warm hummus, grilled skewers and charred cauliflower going at once. It is at 124 Devore Rd in downtown Alpharetta.

How to Order

more than feels sensible

The usual mistake is ordering like it is a normal restaurant. One plate each, then wondering why the table looks empty.

A better approach: four or five plates between two people, six to eight between four. Start with two or three mezze, add a pasta for the table, then one or two of the grilled dishes. Order again if you are still going, which most people are.

It costs less than it sounds, because you are not paying for four separate main courses.

A Table That Works

a suggested spread

If you want a running order rather than a menu, this is the one that rarely disappoints. Add or swap as you go. See the full menu.

Why Sharing Suits Groups

nobody loses

The argument about where to eat is usually an argument about cuisine. One person wants pasta, another wants something lighter, someone else does not eat meat.

Sharing plates end that. The menu covers Italian and Mediterranean at once, there is plenty without meat, and nobody is stuck watching someone else eat the better dish.

It also makes the evening slower in a good way. Food keeps arriving, conversation keeps going, and a quick dinner turns into three hours. Larger groups can also book private dining.

Practical Bits

worth knowing

Pace It

Order in two rounds rather than all at once. Plates arrive as they are ready, so a single big order lands all together and goes cold.

Ask for Pita

Warm pita with the dips is the thing everyone forgets and then orders twice. Get it with the first round.

Leave Room

Baklava cheesecake and the saffron crème brûlée are both worth it, and both easier to share than to finish alone.

The Bar Shares Too

twenty cocktails

Twenty house cocktails, a thirty-bottle wine list and a deep spirits shelf. A bottle for the table works better with this style of eating than everyone ordering separately.

There is a happy hour menu earlier in the evening if you want a few small plates and a drink without a full sit-down. On Friday a saxophonist plays, and the room lifts. See what Friday looks like.

Good to Know

before you come

What does tapas-style mean here?

Plates are smaller than a main course and arrive as they are ready, so the table shares everything rather than each person having their own dish.

How many plates should we order?

Roughly four or five between two people, six to eight between four. Order in two rounds rather than all at once, so the food does not arrive together and go cold.

Is it Spanish tapas?

No. The format is tapas-style sharing, but the food is Italian and Mediterranean. House-made pasta, mezze, grilled skewers and charred vegetables rather than patatas bravas and jamón.

Is it good for a big group?

Yes, it is the format groups do best with. For larger bookings Siena also does private dining.

Is there enough for someone who does not eat meat?

Yes. Hummus, whipped feta, charred cauliflower, the salads, the pasta and the sides make a full meal on their own. More on the vegetarian side.

Where is it and what are the hours?

124 Devore Rd, Alpharetta, GA 30009. Closed Monday. Tuesday to Thursday 4pm to 10pm, Friday and Saturday 4pm to midnight, Sunday 4pm to 10pm, plus Saturday brunch from 10am.

Bring People

and order widely

Tapas works best with more of you. Four people and eight plates in the middle of the table is the way Siena is meant to be eaten.

Book your table and start with the hummus.
